David Valero Serrano, born on 27 December 1988, is a Spanish athlete specialised in mountain biking, specifically in the cross-country modality. Although he is especially known for the bronze medal he won at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, his sporting career goes far beyond this achievement. Valero has participated in three editions of the Olympic Games, taking ninth place at Rio 2016, bronze at Tokyo 2020, and tenth place at Paris 2024. Internationally, he has a silver medal at the 2022 World Mountain Bike Championships and a bronze medal at the 2018 European Championships. He also won a bronze medal at the 2024 World Marathon Championships and a silver medal at the European Marathon Championships in the same year. David started cycling when he was just 10 years old, although he did not start his professional career until he was 26. In 2013, after winning the Spanish Open and achieving fourth place in the Spanish Championships, he decided to dedicate himself fully to training and competition.
