RAILWAY FOUNTAIN

A unique monument featuring a locomotive symbolizes the region's rich railway history, highlighting its economic growth and industrial significance for touri...

The railway marked a before and after in the history of Baza. Its arrival connected the city with the great Mediterranean corridor Granada-Murcia, boosting the local economy as never before. Passengers, goods and minerals -such as slag- essential for the mining and industrial activity in the area travelled along its tracks. Although the line was closed in 1985, it left behind an indelible legacy. The famous "fountain with a train" probably pays homage to that golden age: a monument that uses a locomotive as a symbol of progress, union and development for the city.
