PILLAR OF LOS CAÑOS DE LA MORERIA
In the heart of the old Morería, the Caños de la Morería preserve the old pillar of the Moorish community, a fountain built in 1557, intended to supply the district inhabited by the Moorish population and endowed with the quarter of the water of the Bernal Francés fountain. The fountain was built by the stonemason Florentín Charentón. Its stones, worn by time, seem to whisper stories of past centuries, of daily life, of exchanges and secrets between the neighbours of that neighbourhood. The pillar is not just a structure; it is a silent witness to the Moorish presence in Baza, a vestige that connects the past with the present, inviting those who contemplate it to imagine the steps, gestures and echoes of those who lived next to it more than four centuries ago.
