Located in the BIC of the archaeological sites of Basti is the Interpretation Centre of the Archaeological Sites (CIYA), specially designed for the dissemination, research and better understanding of the social, cultural, economic and religious processes of the Iberian culture from the origin of the Bastetan settlement, where visitors can discover everything about the Dama de Baza and the Iberian civilisation of Basti in an enjoyable and interactive way. The CIYA offers a journey through different aspects of the Basti Iberian society by means of different state-of-the-art audiovisual resources. The time of the discovery of the Dama de Baza, the necropolis surrounding the city of Basti, the city itself, the surrounding hills, the Dama de Baza and the archaeological research techniques followed at these sites make up the bulk of the contents.PreviousNextAll these thematic areas are shown in an entertaining, multilingual and interactive way. Among the most striking features are the three-dimensional recreations of the burial chamber of the Dama de Baza, the large audiovisual screen that reproduces scenes of Iberian life and a 3D staging of the techniques used by the Iberians to place the statue of the Dama de Baza in her tomb.The CIYA transcends the traditional concept of a museum. In it, there are hardly any urns, and there are spaces to awaken and feed the curiosity of visitors of all ages. It also has a part that is not visible to the general public, the research and work area dedicated to the study of the pieces that are and will be found in the Basti sites, as it is a very rich archaeological area, which continues to provide relevant data on the civilisation that created the Lady of Baza and that populated the territory of Basti in the 4th century BC.Visitors are welcomed by a video that takes them back to the moment of the discovery of the Dama de Baza, just when the young Bastetan Mundi de Peñafort Lorente arrives in Baza with the news of the discovery. Her footsteps, simulated on the floor, will be illuminated to show the way to follow during the visit and will lead us to a raised platform with a glass floor, under which archaeological remains are found, leading to a 3D box showing a recreation of the burial of the Dama de Baza. Again, on the circular floor of the CIYA we pass to the 10-metre screen on which a film (Spanish, English and French) is projected about the beginnings of the city of Basti. The tour continues through a dozen information panels, including a model of the terrain where Basti was located and the evolution of the city over the centuries. The next area encourages visitors to take part in interactive activities such as painting the Lady.
