Green Cross Square

Green Cross Square

Historic location with access to a Civil War air raid shelter, testimony to the city's wartime past and military significance.
This air-raid shelter was ordered to be built by the former mayor of Baza Sebastián Pérez Fernández in 1937 and was used during the Civil War. It is located under the square and what we can see here is its access, although its state of conservation does not allow us to visit the inside. This is just one of the numerous Civil War shelters preserved in the city, a reflection of the importance of the city as the headquarters of the Republican army command during the war.
