Plaza Mayor

Discover a monumental complex with a historic church, an archaeological museum, and emblematic buildings such as the old seminary and the 19th century Casino.
We can find the Collegiate Church of Santa María or Iglesia Mayor, the most representative church in the city. Within this monumental complex we also find the building of the old prison, from the 18th century, today the seat of the Town Hall. Next to this building is the old Minor Seminary, formerly the Divino Maestro school. In the Plaza Mayor we can also find the Municipal Archaeological Museum, which is accessed through a portico with three semicircular arches and columns. At the entrance we can see some of the lombards used by the Catholic Monarchs in the site of Baza. The Casino Bastetano building, built at the end of the 19th century, completes the complex, and nearby is the Alhóndiga building, now restored and annexed to the city's Museum.
