Five Corners Tower

Five Corners Tower

Historic tower with ashlar cladding, witness to the Muslim fortified enclosure, now houses dwellings and shops. Ideal for history lovers.

This corner tower stands at the junction of Calle Zapatería and Calle Dolores, protecting the angle formed here by the walls that defended the medina, in front of the moat of the Cava Baja (now Calle Dolores) and the other "natural" moat in Calle Zapatería itself. Built of rammed earth, it has an outer covering of ashlars, probably a reinforcement from the Christian period. Its interior is perforated and occupied by dwellings and shops. This tower is one of the few surviving examples of the powerful fortified enclosure that once protected the Muslim medina.
