Former Convent of Santa Isabel

Former Convent of Santa Isabel

It is notable for its cloister with octagonal pillars and a chapterhouse with polychrome alfarje. The church combines late Gothic and Mudejar elements.
After an initial location in another part of the city, it was built on its current site in the mid-16th century. The church and part of the convent, which has undergone a major transformation, are still standing today. The latter is notable for its cloister on octagonal brick pillars and the chapterhouse covered with an alfarje with beams and an octagonal frame with loop decoration and two flat panels on both sides. Both the alfarje and the frame are richly polychromed. The church has two naves with late Gothic and Mudéjar elements. The central nave is covered with a barrel vault with lunettes and transverse arches. Of the old choir loft at the foot of the church, only a small tribune on the Epistle side has been preserved, which is currently the site of the La Presentación school.
